Use teach-back and address barriers (transport, wait time), still prioritize safety.
You acknowledge the daughter’s concern and explain that Ny. M’s preserved consciousness does not rule out a serious neurological condition. The sudden right-sided weakness and difficulty speaking still require urgent in-person assessment.
You work with the daughter and village midwife to make the referral plan feasible:
- identify the most appropriate nearby emergency facility,
- arrange safe transportation without unnecessary delay,
- advise that Ny. M should not be left alone,
- recommend bringing identification, medication information, and relevant medical records if available,
- explain what to do if her consciousness decreases, weakness worsens, she develops a seizure, severe headache, or vomiting during transport.
You use teach-back to confirm that the daughter understands both the urgency and the plan.
